State Department: Iranian missile attack on Erbil was not directed against US facilities

Iran’s missile attack on Iraqi Erbil was not directed against American targets, the US State Department said. In turn, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for the rocket attack on the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, Erbil, and said that the target of the strike was an Israeli base, Israel News reports.

With reference to the Lebanese TV channel Al-Mayadeen, the publication reports that a missile attack was carried out on an Israeli base, from which a military operation against an Iranian missile base was carried out in mid-February.

At the same time, the authorities of the Kurdish province, friendly to Israel, accused Iran of shelling a “civilian object”.

Recall, on Sunday night, the National Iraqi News Agency reported that several rockets fell near the building of the US Consulate General in Erbil. The Kurdistan-24 TV channel, citing law enforcement agencies, stated that a total of 12 ballistic missiles were fired, the Rudaw TV channel – 14. US facilities were not damaged.
