YouTube video hosting blocked the channels of the State Television and Radio Fund “Soviet Television. Gosteleradiofond” and “Soviet Radio. Gosteleradiofond”, which are archives of millions of video and audio materials of Russian and Soviet production of the XX-XXI centuries.

When I try to open the channel pages, I get a notification “This channel is not available to watch in your country”.

Gosteleradiofond is a branch of the television and radio company VGTRK. On March 11, YouTube announced the beginning of the blocking of Russian media channels, which are allegedly funded by the state. The first channels to be blocked were RT, Sputnik, Rossiya Segodnya and RBC. Also, video hosting restricted access to TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov’s channels “Soloviev Live” and “Evening with Vladimir Solovyov”.

Recall, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.” In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries (USA, Canada, EU, UK, Japan) announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including financial and economic ones.
