Portoviejo

Seven were the people who were injured after the fall of a helicopter on Manabí Avenue, in the center of Portoviejo. Among those affected are the three crew members of the aircraft, a Gazelle, who arrived in this city after a job on the southern border of the country, according to a statement from the National Army.

Juan Francisco Núñez, governor of Manabí, indicated that four of the seven injured people received medical discharge on Saturday night, after receiving care in different health houses, and any major incidence in the body of these people was ruled out.

“The three crew members of the helicopter are still under observation and discharge is expected today after ruling out complications in the studies carried out,” Núñez wrote on his Twitter account.

After the helicopter fell, it was observed —thanks to a security camera— that it grazed a bus from the Ciudad de Portoviejo cooperative and also a taxi. Precisely the wounded are from those two transport units.

In a statement from the National Army it was indicated that the causes of this accident will be determined by the Accident Investigation Board, and that the effects that occur to third parties will also be covered by the aircraft’s hull insurance. (I)
