Her dream of becoming an outstanding dancer began at the age of 3 when she began to practice ballet at the initiative of her parents, although she soon turned it into her own goal and decided to fulfill it 100%, motivated by the dream of living life to the fullest. his passion for this artistic discipline. After almost two decades of making her way in the world of dance internationally, Ana Karina Ron Valverde’s family roots motivated her to return to her native country, where today she hopes to pass on her experience and knowledge to new dancers through her academy. , Forçak, inaugurated in July 2021, which he qualifies as a ballet ‘clinic’.
Why that denomination?
In a hospital, each doctor gives each patient the medicine they need, so to speak. Here, I want to apply the same thing: give each dancer the training she needs and do it in small groups.
How is your work with the students of the program traineethe largest?
I always try to get the best out of them because for me the most important thing is the versatility of each one. It doesn’t do me any good to have many ‘robots’, which is not bad, each academy does it to their liking, but the normal thing is that they want all of them to be physically the same or that they all look the same and that they all dance exactly the same and it’s very difficult, not because it can’t be done, but you’re taking away the creativity of each student, her personality and her character within the dance, her own expression. So for me it is super important to make that clear. Yes, they have to dance in coordination, but it also has to be seen that each one is different, because that differentiates them in their expression before the public and then it looks much more virtuous and rich.
From what age do you receive applicants and what do you look for in them?
I just need girls who know how to work, have the attitude and the discipline because that will take them to the next level, not so much the physical part, something I went through myself. From my own experience, I think that you do not need to be born with amazing flexibility, but rather work with discipline to achieve it. Obviously, here we instill it in her since she was little, but it will depend on each one how seriously she takes it, perhaps she does not want to be a professional, but while she practices this discipline she must do it 100%. I receive them from the age of 4 because it is an age in which the girl already has the capacity to understand me very well.
What was the hardest thing for you when you started in the world of dance?
When I was between 13 and 14 years old, I auditioned for an international competition, along with the rest of my classmates, and I was not chosen. And I think that was the hardest thing about when I just started because it coincided with the moment when I decided to put on my shoes to do this seriously and they chose everyone except me, and that did impact me. It was a downturn in my professional life and I wondered if maybe this path is not for me or what do they have that I don’t have. Yes, it was a hard blow for me, I was a little unmotivated, but I decided that I was going to continue doing it because I loved it so much that maybe, well, it was not going to be the best, but passion won over all those, those prejudices.
What dancers inspire you?
I have never had, my inspiration has always been my future self. I always try to imagine what I would look like when I achieve something. It is something that has helped me a lot because I have achieved many things through that capacity of imagination. A long time ago, a certain teacher told me this when I had a hard time being flexible enough to raise my legs. She told me: ‘but imagine it, imagine as if you already had your leg up’ and that totally changed my perspective because at first I saw others and compared myself a lot, but then that advice changed radically in my life and I began to compare myself with myself and thus see results. So, I do have ballet dancers that I like to see, but each one has her own brilliance, it’s hard to choose.
What personal lessons has this discipline taught you?
To find happiness in small things and motivate myself (…) You can always give more, whether as a teacher, as a dancer or choreographer, or in any profession, only this is my passion and very few people find it, and I am very grateful for having found her and that keeps me alive to move forward, with myself and with my students.
