Actor Alec Baldwin, who became the unwitting culprit in the death of cameraman Galina Hutchins due to an accident on the set, filed a lawsuit in the arbitration court. This is reported by The Los Angeles Times.
Baldwin states that he is not responsible for the safety of the weapons used on the set, as he did not know that the fatal gun was loaded with live ammunition. He believes that the production company of the film “Rust”, on the set of which the incident occurred, should pay him compensation, since the day of filming with a tragic outcome was “the worst day of his life.” The amount of compensation was not disclosed.
The tragedy on the set occurred on October 22, 2021. During the shooting of one of the scenes of the western “Rust”, the gun in the hands of Baldwin went off and the bullet hit the cameraman Galina Hutchins and director Joel Sauce. The woman died on the spot, the man was injured. After this incident, a number of filmmakers, including representatives of Hollywood, spoke out in favor of a ban on the filming of firearms.
