The International University Sports Federation has banned Russians and Belarusians from participating in competitions under the auspices of FISU until the end of 2022. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the press service of the organization.

“The FISU leadership has decided that Russian and Belarusian athletes, as well as officials, will not participate in FISU competitions and events until at least the end of 2022,” the message says.

Earlier, the International Biathlon Union (IBU) decided not to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete under its auspices. The relevant verdict was issued by the IBU Executive Committee, and the suspension will last until further notice. A similar action was taken today by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), removing athletes from the Russian Federation and Belarus from participating in competitions under its auspices.

On February 28, the International Olympic Committee recommended that international sports federations and competition organizers not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in competitions due to the situation in Ukraine.
