At noon this Thursday, March 10, there was an accident between a van and a truck at the La Iberia roundabout, on the section of the Machala-El Guabo road.
As a result of this emergency, the prefect of the province of El Oro, Clemente Bravo Riofrío, was beaten and according to the doctors, he will be under observation for 48 hours.
Two other passengers were also affected. The administrative director of the Prefecture of El Oro, Joffre Orellana, apparently had a fractured arm, while the driver of the car suffered blows to his extremities, it was indicated.
The prefect of El Oro was on his way to fulfill his agenda in the canton of El Guabo, where he had to deliver social aid to neighborhood leaders and before the incident he had left an interview in a local media.
The truck in which Bravo was traveling had more damage since the impact occurred on the right side.
“The cargo vehicle (truck) tries to bypass the Pan-American highway that goes to El Guabo, apparently it is imprudence and the accident occurs, they inform us that the prefect is stable,” said Jairo Vázquez, director of Works Public.
After the rescue carried out by personnel from the Ecuadorian Transit Commission (CTE), the prefect, the driver and the administrative director were transferred to a private health home in Machala, where they received medical attention.
