Geison EZ was sentenced to 29 years and 4 months in prison for the crime of rape, this March 10.
The man raped a 13-year-old teenager in the Rioverde canton, in the province of Esmeraldas, on April 12, 2021.
The victim was his relative. The man, first cousin of the mother of the affected, took the teenager out of her house under threats and deceit, the Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
The defendant used a van to take the teenager away from her home. There, he sexually assaulted her.

Then, the man dumped her in a sector near his house.
When the victim’s father arrived home, he realized that his daughter was missing.
“A neighbor told him that he went out with Geison EZ in a vehicle. When she came home and told him what happened, they notified the Police and the aggressor was immediately arrested, ”the Prosecutor’s Office published on its social networks, when announcing the sentence against the accused.

Already in the trial, the Prosecutor’s Office presented and argued its evidence.
The prosecutor Patricia Nazareno Cabezas presented the testimony of the arresting policemen, the parents of the adolescent, the medical examiner, the clinical psychologist, in addition to the anticipated testimony of the victim.

After that, the Court of Criminal Guarantees of Esmeraldas issued a conviction of 29 years and 4 months in prison against the accused.
The judges were Jhonny Bedoya Medina, Washington Estupiñán and Érika Hertz.
They also ordered the sentenced person to pay a fine (to the State) equivalent to 1,066 unified basic salaries, as well as the value of $10,000 as comprehensive reparation for the victim.
Geison EZ was prosecuted according to article 171 (paragraph 1 and numerals 2 and 3) of the current Comprehensive Organic Criminal Code (COIP). The aggravating circumstances set forth in article 48 (paragraphs 5 and 9) of this same legislation were applied to him. (I)
