Relatives of the deceased and victims of the landslide in La Comuna and La Gasca received a donation of household appliances

Anabel Tinoco was the first person to receive the donation of household appliances those affected by the flood on The Commune and La Gasca, this Thursday, March 10, 2022. He appreciated the help that will allow him to replace his household goods, however, he pointed out that in the emotional part has not yet recovered.

“That afternoon felt like a strong explosion, the mud entangled my legs, it was horrible, it was like a monster that was coming at me, I I tried to run to my granddaughter to help her”he recounted in a subdued voice as he waited for delivery at the Juan Montalvo National College, close to the affected area.

Altogether they were 23 home appliance kits, made up of refrigerator, washing machine, kitchen and blender.

The Municipality of Quito coordinated with the families that lost a family member or that their homes were affected due to the flood of last January 31, which caused 28 dead and more than 50 injured.

Municipal entities coordinated the delivery of appliances. After registering on paper each series of products to be delivered, Municipal vans loaded and moved each of the houses.

Anthony Zapata, Director of Grants, Scholarships and Loans of the Secretariat of Social Inclusion of the Municipality of Quito, pointed out that they are close to completing the aid to 100% of those affected. He also pointed out that this donation is part of the agreement between the Governments of Ecuador and China.

On the complaint of some families who say they have not received help, he replied that they are verifying the information after the constant sweeps they made at ground zero to deliver technically.

Gladys Aconda, 56 years old, also received help. She in tears commented that now he will have to be father and mother for two of his five children who are still in their studies.

The first is 19 years old, who I would like to study Civil Engineering, the second is 12 and is starting school. “What I would ask is help me with scholarships because I don’t know how I’m going to do with them”, he said between sighs. Stalin Tingo He remembers that his father loved ecuavóley. “If he were by my side, he would have dear that the field stays, I think that will be a good tribute for them”, he expressed about the sports complex that was destroyed by the flood.
