The European Union received information provided by the Russian Ministry of Defense about US biological laboratories in Ukraine. This data is not trusted in the EU, said the representative of the EU foreign service, Peter Stano, quoted by TASS.

“We are aware of the statement of the Russian Ministry of Defense about the so-called cleansing of biological materials in the US biological laboratories in Ukraine, but it should be noted that the level of confidence on the part of Brussels in the information provided by the Kremlin is very low and doubtful,” Stano said.

According to him, earlier Russian information about biological substances and secret laboratories in Ukraine and Georgia was refuted by EU structures specially created to search for “Russian disinformation”, as well as various non-governmental organizations. The EU said that there is no data on programs in biological laboratories in Ukraine that would not comply with the requirements of the Biological Weapons Convention.

The UN was also unable to confirm the data on the development of weapons in biological laboratories in Ukraine. The organization does not have such information, the Secretary General’s office said.

At the same time, the day before, US representative Victoria Nuland confirmed the presence of biological research facilities in Ukraine, commenting on the message of the Russian Ministry of Defense that in Ukraine “facts of an emergency cleansing of traces of a military biological program being implemented in the country, funded by the US Department of Defense” were uncovered. It was reported that “especially dangerous pathogens were destroyed: the causative agents of plague, anthrax, tularemia, cholera and other deadly diseases.”
