Members of the National Police and Prosecutor’s Office collaborated in the respective procedure with the male body that was found on the banks of the Zamora River at the height of the February 12th Educational Unit, on the outskirts of the cantonal head.

More people, including friends and relatives of the disappeared, have joined the search for the victims who have yet to be found in the El Retorno sector due to the dragging of the large-scale landslide.

They have also requested help from all the people who live on farms or must circulate in the places near the Zamora River. “To those who provide useful, truthful and timely information, a reward of $ 2,500 will be given for each of the victims found,” indicated in a statement published on social networks.

The letter added that people who provide information that allow the location and delivery of the body to the competent authority will deliver the reward at a radio station in the city of Yantzaza.

Meanwhile, the governor of the province of Zamora Chinchipe, Absalón Campoverde, reported that the search efforts have not stopped in these days. “Unfortunately no more bodies have been found, but that does not mean that we are not going to continue working,” he said.

The planning of the search from this Thursday is carried out with the Ministry of Transport and Public Works and the firefighters of some eastern cantons. For now, a sweep is being carried out from Gualaquiza, passing through El Pangui, Muchir, Yantzaza, Namírez and the surrounding sectors with motor and rowing boats.

On Wednesday afternoon, at the site called Santa Rita, a religious ceremony was held presided over by Bishop Jaime Castillo. The religious summoned a Eucharist scheduled to take place at 7:00 p.m. in the main church of Zamora in memory of the people who perished in this tragedy. (I)
