The US authorities intend to take action if Moscow nationalizes the property of foreign companies that have left the Russian market, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said at a briefing for journalists.
“If there are such actions, I am sure that we will take steps, but nothing has happened at the moment,” she said.
Many foreign companies have announced their withdrawal or temporary suspension of activities in the territory of the Russian Federation. In this regard, the Russian government announced its intention to keep jobs in such companies through external management. The interim administration will be appointed for six months. During this time, the former owner, who wants to return to the management of the company or sell his share, will be able to file a lawsuit demanding the termination of external management.
Recall, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.” In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries (USA, Canada, European Union, Great Britain, Japan) announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including financial and economic ones.
