The invasion of Russia has been continuing for 15 days without interruption. While only military bases were attacked at first, schools, hospitals and civilian homes are now being bombed. Not only soldiers are dying, but also defenseless people, including children. Recently, a shocking video has circulated around the world, showing how parents ran to the hospital with an 18-month-old boy, who, unfortunately, could not be saved. The losses are huge. The Russians only recently reported that, according to them, only 500 soldiers died in Ukraine, and 1.5 thousand is injured. In turn, the Ukrainians claim that the number of killed Russians already reaches 11,000.

Ukrainian hotline for Russian women

The Ukrainian helpline was established with the outbreak of the war. She is called by terrified and worried Russian women who are trying to find out what is happening to their relatives. The hotline called “Come back from Ukraine alive” was established by the Ministry of the Interior. In an interview with CNN, the helpline founder, who refused to reveal her identity, explained why such an initiative arose.

First, we will help (Russian soldiers) find their relatives who were deceived and, not knowing where and why they were going, ended up in our country. Secondly, we will help stop the war altogether.

Since the outbreak of the war, dispatchers have already received over 6,000. connections from Russia as well as from outside Europe.

In Russia, everyone is afraid to talk about war

One of the residents of the United States called the special number. CNN caught up with him. The man was not fully identified because he wanted anonymity. In an interview with a journalist, he admitted that he was trying to find out something about his cousin. A resident of Virginia became concerned shortly after he found a photo of his cousin on the “Find Your Missing” platform, dedicated to publishing information about captured, wounded or killed Russians fighting in Ukraine.

We are aware that all signs indicate that he was most likely killed in the action, but we are still trying to determine where his body may be found. (…) The family tries not to let anyone contact her, because everyone in Russia is terrified. Everyone is afraid to talk, afraid that law enforcement will follow them.

– He admitted.

From the conversations we hear in the CNN material, we learn how Russian propaganda works. Many men had no idea where they were really going and why. Their families are also fed with information that has nothing to do with the reality we observe in Ukraine. The hotline also said the men were being sent for reservist training or military training as early as February 22-23. Immediately after that, contact with them ceased. This also confirms that Russian soldiers have no possibility of contact with their families.

This is what the record of one of the conversations looks like

In a video posted on CNN’s Twitter, we can hear one of the conversations. The crying woman tries to find out what happened to her loved one.

Woman: Is calling here to see if anyone is alive?

Operator: Yes. You can give me the details of the person.

The woman provided the details of the person she was looking for.

Operator: When did you lose touch with him?

Woman: A long time ago.

Operator: How long ago? A month, two?

Woman: More than two months.

The woman gives more personal details and begins to ask questions herself.

Woman: Are you from Ukraine?

Operator: Yes, I am from Ukraine.

Woman: Excuse me! It’s not our fault … We’re afraid for them, they didn’t choose that!

The creator of the hotline admitted that its purpose was to persuade the Russians to oppose the ongoing war in Ukraine. A senior Ukrainian government official told CNN that a special line linked dozens of Russian families with Russian soldiers in Ukraine.

We invited them to come to Ukraine and meet their sons, but so far none of them have decided to do so.

– we hear in the CNN material.
