The American company Caterpillar announced the suspension of its production in Russia due to sanctions and disruption of the supply chain.
According to the company’s website, due to these circumstances, “work in Russia is becoming increasingly difficult,” therefore, activities at the Russian production facilities will be suspended. The company added that they are studying ways to support their employees in the Russian Federation in this situation.
The Caterpillar plant in Russia is located in Tosno and has been operating since 2000. It assembles two models of excavators and mining dump trucks, as well as the production of various components and equipment, which was then sent to Europe. In addition, the plant has a branch in Novosibirsk, where bodies for dump trucks are created, which are then transported to Tosno for assembly of cars.
Recall, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.” In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries (USA, Canada, European Union, Great Britain, Japan) announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including financial and economic ones.
