The Huawei company indicated, through a statement, that it wants to continue promoting its training and training programs in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for women. These programs aim to reduce the gap in access and learning of new technologies in Ecuador and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean deepened by the pandemic.
This is why he announced the start of the second phase of the program “1,000 talents for the development of Latin America and the Caribbean”. The call to apply for these scholarships will be open until March 28, 2022. Due to the current health situation, applicants must apply through the so-called Academic Cooperation Management System (SIGCA).
This initiative responds to the current difference of 200,000 workers certified in information and communication technologies around the world, of which women are the ones with the least participation in this field.
The call is aimed at women students, professionals or academics who have studies or knowledge in the area of science, physics, mathematics or engineering related to ICT and who wish to develop new skills in the digital age, who may be awarded a scholarship.
The program is online and the duration of the studies is from 6 to 20 hours depending on the area chosen. 30 quotas are granted per country.
The first Huawei phase recruited 168 women from more than 25 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Of the 30 slots available for Ecuador, 16 females registered.
Available courses
1. Artificial intelligence (HCIA-AI): Foundations of mathematics (basic knowledge of linear algebra, probability and statistics). Basic knowledge of Python programming.
2. Internet of Things (HCIA-IoT): Basic computer and Linux operating capabilities.
3. Data Communication (HCIA-Datacom): Basic knowledge of PC operations. Basic computer and network knowledge.
4. Data Storage: No prior knowledge requirements.
5. Cloud services: Basic computer knowledge. Basic knowledge of server and Linux operating system. Storage notions.
6. Macro Data (Big Data): It is preferable to have basic computer skills and Linux.
