Another trick is an artificially created scarcity – a limited period of supply or quantity of goods. This method attracts new customers – they have a fear of loss. This feeling prevails over the question “Do I really need this thing so much?”.

“A countdown timer until the end of the promotion, a reminder that the number of goods is limited or that the first 100 buyers will receive it, creates unnecessary rush and leaves no time to think,” Panov added.

In addition, he warned, online marketers are actively using the lead magnet. The customer is offered something free before purchasing the main product, such as “get a selection of the best romantic films” or “give a free sample of perfume.” At the same time, the client is not openly called to make a purchase. But after receiving a free gift, he has a “sense of duty.” And he considers himself obligated to buy something.

The use of stars in online advertising who have already bought or received a product as a gift also pushes them to make a purchase. Several triggers work for buyers at once: the desire to be like a famous person; an opinion leader will not buy something really unnecessary or of poor quality; my wife / mother / sister is no worse than a celebrity and deserves the same gift.

“It is better to prepare in advance for the choice of gifts on the eve of gender holidays. Then many of the tricks of marketers simply will not affect you. If gifts are still bought at the last moment, then compare prices in different online stores,” the expert advises.
