The social network TikTok has decided to temporarily ban the placement of new videos and live broadcasts in the Russian Federation due to the law on “fake news”, the company said in a statement.
“The safety of our employees and users remains our top priority. In light of Russia’s new “fake news” law, we have no choice but to suspend live streaming and new content for our video service while we consider the security implications of this law. Our in-app messaging service will not be affected,” the company said in a statement.
“We will continue to evaluate changing circumstances in Russia to determine when we can fully resume our services, with safety as our top priority,” the company said.
On February 28, Roskomnadzor sent a request to TikTok to exclude military or political content from recommendations for minors.
