Michelin, the world-famous food guide, said it was stopping ratings for Russian restaurants in response to Russia’s military operation in Ukraine. It is reported by Reuters.

“Given the severity of the current crisis, the Michelin Guide team is forced to make the decision to suspend all restaurant recommendation activities in Russia,” the company said in a statement.

The statement also said that all development projects in Russia are frozen, as well as all the company’s social media activities in the Russian segment.

In 2021, Michelin published its first selection for Moscow, featuring nine critically acclaimed Michelin-starred restaurants, a prestigious designation considered proof that these establishments are among the best restaurants in the world. “This year, the Moscow selection will not be updated,” the company noted.

It is not yet reported whether this statement means that Russian restaurants that have already received their stars will lose them.

Earlier, Apple, Nike, ASOS, IKEA, Swarovski and others refused to sell goods in Russia due to fears for the reputation of their brand.
