Immediately, two American media outlets, Bloomberg and CNN, announced the suspension of work in Russia. This was reported by the media themselves.

Representatives of CNN wrote on their Twitter that they are closely monitoring developments and will take further steps in accordance with the current situation.

Bloomberg also reported on the suspension of work on collecting news on the territory of the Russian Federation. According to the editor-in-chief of the agency, John Micklewaite, this decision was made with great regret.

Earlier, the BBC Corporation announced a temporary cessation of work in Russia. In addition, the social networks Twitter and Facebook are now blocked on the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as the websites of Meduza, Deutsche Welle, Radio Liberty (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation), InoSMI, Svobodnaya Pressa, Novaya Gazeta, Lenizdat” and others.

Recall that on March 4, a law on the introduction of criminal liability for the dissemination of false data regarding the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation came into force. The new article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation 207.3 provides for imprisonment for up to three years or a fine of up to 1.5 million rubles for “public dissemination of knowingly false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.”

At the same time, such a violation committed using one’s official position, out of mercenary motives, based on political, ideological, racial, national or religious hatred or enmity, is punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years or a fine of up to 5 million rubles. If the information caused serious consequences, the term of imprisonment will be from 10 to 15 years.
