Five subjects were captured with 147 packages of cocaine (equivalent to 146.5 kilos) that were apparently camouflaged in a car workshop for the transfer of the alkaloid in a camouflaged manner.
Due to a complaint, agents of the National Anti-Drug Investigation Unit of the Police carried out an operation in the vicinity of the establishment, located on Av. Orellana and callejón Primero, in the north of Guayaquil.
On the day of the operation, according to the Police, two people who were in one of the vehicles left the premises and, noticing the presence of agents from the institution, tried to flee, without success, since they were intercepted a few blocks ahead.
Meanwhile, the other three were inside the workshop handling the shipment when they noticed the presence of the authorities, it was indicated.
On the premises, 147 packages of cocaine, several cell phones, cash ($18,000 approximately) and three vehicles were seized.
According to the investigations carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office, in the place, presumably, the vehicles were adequate with false walls and floors with the mission of storing drugs for their transfer.
In the flagrancy hearing, held this Wednesday, March 2, the Judge of Criminal Guarantees Humberto Barzola accepted the request of the Prosecutor’s Office for the suspects to be held in preventive detention.
In the diligence, the hypothesis was supported with several elements such as the drug, cell phones and documentation.
In this case, those investigated are prosecuted for the possession, possession, transport and sale of drugs, whose penalty varies from ten to thirteen years in prison, according to article 220 of the Comprehensive Organic Penal Code (COIP).
In another recent operation, the Police managed to seize 50 drug packages on a merchant ship that was anchored in one of the city’s seaports. The blocks, whose total weight is 49.8 kilos, had logos of the Joker character and the number 52. His destination was Shanghai, China, it was said. (I)
