Rain events will continue in the coming days on the Litoral and Sierra, warns Inamhi

A medium-high level weather alert was announced this afternoon by the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inamhi) due to rains and thunderstorms that will occur between this Thursday, March 3 and Sunday, March 6.

The rainy phenomenon will occur especially in the provinces of Esmeraldas, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, in the Litoral region.

The early warning system in this period predicts that rainy conditions will persist in Ecuador continental, especially in the coastal, inter-Andean and southern Amazon regions.

In the Coastal region, rainfall of varying intensity is expected to continue, especially in the coastal, central and northern profile in the provinces of Esmeraldas and Manabí; as well as in the interior of the region in the provinces of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Los Ríos, Guayas and El Oro. This increase in rainfall could occur between March 3 and 4.

At interandean alley there will be scattered rains with probable storms, especially in the north and south of the region during the days March 3 and 5.

In the Amazon region rainfall may occur mainly in locations near the foothills of the mountain range, with greater intensity between March 5 and 6.

Medium-high level

According to this measurement, the average level of precipitation on the Coast will range from 15 to 30 mm to 40 to 80 mm at a high level.

In the inter-Andean region, the average level would be from 10 to 20 mm and a high level from 20 to 40 mm.

In the Amazon, the average level of rainfall will be from 20 to 40 mm, and the high level could reach 40 or 50 mm. (I)
