The mayor of Loja, Patricia Picoita, officially assumed her office from the morning of this Thursday, March 3, and through memorandum ML-A2022-001-M requested the immediate resignation of the advisors and officials who worked in the administration of Jorge Bailón Abad, who passed away on the night of Tuesday, March 1.
Picoita said he based his decision on article 158 of the Organic Administrative Code.

The collaborators must present the report of the functions they have performed for the respective liquidation.
Before this request from Picoita, on Wednesday, March 2, Efraín Muñoz, who served as general coordinator, and Ernesto Alvear, general secretary of the Loja council, presented their resignation on a voluntary basis.
Other officials who have resigned this Thursday are the strategic heads of the Traffic Control Unit, the head of Communication and the administrative director.
“Tell the public to have a little patience with me because we are trying to restructure the institution. We have requested the resignation of the 6 advisers of the institution (…) I am seeing people who want to work for the benefit of the community”, assured the mayor, and warned that it will take at least a month to reorganize the staff.
The first adviser to be appointed by Picoita is Darwin Avendaño. Veterinarian by profession and former candidate for the Assembly for the Yes Democracy movement.
“There are going to be colleagues who helped me in the campaign, who sweated the shirt with me. I am very loyal to people and I am going to focus on that, on choosing the folders of my colleagues and then we will see the professionals that I am missing, ”said the authority.
He also referred to folders that have already had the go-ahead for their hiring, dismissing them and suspending the merit and opposition contests. “It has also been arranged that some administrative acts be suspended,” he assured.

For next Tuesday, the council session will be held in which the vice mayor will be elected.
Picoita becomes the second woman to occupy the Mercadillo chair, after Piedad Pineda, who took over as mayor after the recall of former mayor José Bolívar Castillo. (I)
