The information that the talks between the Ukrainian delegation and the Russian one will be held in Belovezhskaya Pushcha does not correspond to reality. This was stated on his Facebook page by a member of the Ukrainian delegation David Arakhamia.
He clarified that the negotiations will still take place, but in a different place. More details will come later, he added.
At the same time, Vladimir Medinsky, an aide to the Russian president, said earlier that Belovezhskaya Pushcha was mutually chosen by the parties as a place for negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. It was supposed that the meeting should take place in the “Hunter’s House” in Belovezhskaya Pushcha, wrote BelTA’s Telegram channel.
Recall that the first round of negotiations between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine in the Gomel region of Belarus took place on February 28. The Russian delegation is headed by Medinsky, it also includes Deputy Defense and Foreign Ministers Alexander Fomin and Andrei Rudenko, head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky and Russian Ambassador to Belarus Boris Gryzlov.
From the Ukrainian side: Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, adviser to the head of the presidential office Mykhailo Podolyak, head of the faction of the ruling Servant of the People party David Arakhamia, first deputy head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Contact Group for the settlement in Donbass Andriy Kostin, deputy Rustem Umerov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolay Tochitsky.
Advisor to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, Mykhailo Podolyak, following the talks, stated that the parties had identified priority topics for dialogue and outlined “certain solutions” on them. According to Medinsky, during the first meeting, both delegations managed to find the main points on which their positions could coincide in the future. At the second meeting, the issue of a ceasefire will be discussed, the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation added.
