During the carnival holiday there were 200 programs that in Tungurahua were intended to be developed informally and without the corresponding authorizations.
This was indicated by Colonel Marco Muñoz, commander of Subzone 18 of the National Police, who mentioned that the work that was deployed by the uniformed officers was intense in order to achieve control of public order and the security of citizens.

He reported that during the holiday in Tungurahua there was the support of 1,544 police officers to prevent excesses and criminal acts. He indicated that 102 activities carried out in the province had the respective authorizations.
The localities in which they intended to hold events without permits were Ambato, Baños, Patate, Tisaleo, Pelileo and Quero, where there were more than 1,000 people gathered in each one, before which evictions were carried out.
The officer said that attacks on police officers were even reported during the operations carried out to counter clandestine parties in Baños, Patate, Pelileo and Ambato.
Only in this last canton mentioned during the holiday, more than 15,000 people who were libeling on public roads were removed, which, Muñoz said, implies a great effort by the uniformed men.
For his part, the Police Mayor, Álex Manzano, mentioned that the operations were carried out under the principles of prevention, control and response. He maintained that there were no exaggerated crowds in the places where the authorized programs were carried out.
He assured that if control of the crowds had not been given, the scenario of December 31 could have been repeated, when there were excesses in the Ficoa neighborhood due to the concentration of many people with alcohol intake.
Waiting for possible infections of COVID-19
The district director of Ambato Health, René Sanmartín, commented that in the coming days it will be seen whether or not there is an increase in coronavirus infections in the province after the carnival holiday.
However, he said that due to the progress of the vaccination process (808,047 doses applied) it is expected that there will not be an overdemand for services as occurred at the end of the year.
He called on the population to go to the vaccination posts.

In Tungurahua, a new stage of inoculation began since, in addition to attending to the missing doses for the laggards, the reinforcement is applied to people from the age of 12.
