Mayor of Cuenca announces the initiation of actions for suspension of urban transport service

This Wednesday the 27th is the second day of the stoppage from 06:00 to 12:00. Only line 100 operates.

The mayor of Cuenca, Pedro Palacios, indicated that legal and administrative processes that the law empowers them against the Chamber of Transportation of Cuenca due to the lack of urban service units in the capital of Azuaya will be initiated.

This Wednesday 27 is the second day of partial suspension of the circulation of urban buses in the Azuayan capital, from 06:00 to 12:00.

According to leaders of the Chamber of Transportation, the measure is adopted due to the difficult economic situation that the drivers who offer said service are going through to continue with normal operation and in addition to the lack of agreement with the Azuayo council to access a rate increase of the passage.

“We ask that a technical rate be applied that responds to the new fuel prices set by the National Government,” it was indicated in a statement.

During the stoppage time only line 100 works, considered the most used by the citizens of that city when crossing from north to south. According to Manolo SolĂs, president of the union, the service is “rationed”, but not suspended.

Like last Tuesday, this morning there was criticism among citizens, such as Yolanda Gallegos, who had to opt for other modes of transportation. She spent $ 3.50 on a taxi and used a line 100 bus, which was packed with users.

This morning, civil traffic agents with the two buses of the Mobility, Transit and Transportation Company (EMOV) collaborated to transfer citizens on different routes.

In Cuenca 475 associated buses operate in seven companies. (I)
