Police frustrate assault on clothing store in the center of Guayaquil; In another business in the Bay, antisocials took $ 30,000 in merchandise

With the use of a welder, six subjects tried to make a hole in a metal door to rob a commercial premises in the center of Guayaquil.

The incident occurred at 00:20 this Tuesday, March 1, in a clothing store located on Calle 6 de Marzo between Clemente Ballén and 10 de Agosto, near the Central Market.

After the ECU911 alert, police officers moved to the site to foil the assault and managed to capture four of six individuals in the vicinity of the premises.

The other two antisocials fled the site on a motorcycle. However, the uniformed officers alerted the integrated emergency system to activate the units of the surrounding police districts and the respective tracking of the accomplices with the support of video surveillance cameras.

The capture of these two individuals was achieved in the south of Guayaquil, in the Esteros District sector, said Williams Barreno, head of the Nine October District.

The owners of the business indicated that one of those arrested would have been immersed in a kidnapping of one of the local representatives in previous days, said Manuel Vallejo, deputy commander of the District Nine of October.

This afternoon, the six antisocials were taken to the police station on Urdaneta and 9 de Octubre streets. Several of the pieces of evidence found in his possession were presented there, including a pistol, various metal tools and a motorcycle.

In that robbery, a group of about ten antisocials would have participated in the robbery, including observers from outside. “These, instead, would break the locks, lift the doors, get inside and start packing things up,” Vallejo said.

The investigative axis of the Police maintains the investigations regarding that case, Barreno mentioned.

Vallejo added that the group of criminals took approximately $30,000 in cell phones, according to versions of the owners of the premises.

This robbery was recorded on video from security cameras in the area of ​​Av. Olmedo between Eloy Alfaro and Malecón.
