ARPM: There were problems with the supply of raw materials from Europe for the production of Russian medicines

Up to 95% of substances for Russian drugs are produced abroad, Viktor Dmitriev, General Director of the Association of Russian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, told Rosbalt. The bulk of the substances, according to the interlocutor of the agency, comes to Russia from Asian countries – China, India. Although there is a part of the substances that comes from Europe.

“Today, certain problems with supplies have already arisen. But they have not yet arisen at the legal level, but at a purely human level. There are cases when trucks have already been loaded, but drivers refuse to go because they are afraid to go to an unstable region where hostilities are taking place. We cannot replace them with our drivers, because there are visa issues. Accordingly, if the situation drags on, we will switch to other markets. First of all, it is China and India. There are replacement options,” Dmitriev said.

He stressed that Russian manufacturers have enough stocks to hold out painlessly for two or three months and sell medicines at the old prices.

“Manufacturers, at least ARPM members, sell drugs at the prices that were valid until February 24. That is, distributors take from us at the same prices as before. I know that there are individual pharmacies where prices have gone up. This, I believe, will be dealt with, including law enforcement agencies, the prosecutor’s office – at what stage did the price increase occur and to what extent it is generally legal and justified, ”said Dmitriev.
