For the second consecutive day, the urban buses of Cuenca will not operate. According to the leaders of the Chamber of Transportation, this decision was adopted due to the difficult economic situation they are going through.
They also include the lack of agreements with the local Municipality to agree to raise the rate.
Manolo Solís, president of the union, confirmed that the service will be suspended between 06:00 and 12:00 and only line 100 will work, considered the most used by Cuencanos, because it crosses the city from north to south and is also a competition from the Tram.
In Cuenca the 475 urban buses are grouped into seven companies. In order not to violate the law, Solís said that the service will be “rationed”, but not suspended.
On Tuesday morning there was no urban bus service, which generated criticism among citizens who crowded at the stops.
On this issue, the Coordinator of Mobility of the Municipality of Cuenca, Boris Palacios, assured that through this entity “they will enforce” the operating contracts. He said that it is the obligation of carriers to provide this service.
