The residents of the El Cerrito sector, a population belonging to the Chanduy parish, in Santa Elena, experienced a strong scare this holiday due to a traffic accident reported on the site.
A car traveling on the Guayaquil-Salinas highway lost track and crashed into a house in that sector on Monday afternoon.
The car left the highway, took away the signs and ended up embedded in the wall of a house in that area that is at the foot of the road.
El Cerrito is a small town that is at the entrance of the San Rafael commune, 15 minutes from the Chanduy parish. Its population is dedicated to agriculture and work in quarries.
Previous versions indicate that the car apparently crashed while avoiding a bus.
The owners of the affected villa were unharmed after that traffic accident, but there was damage to the property. The family, made up of three people, was going about their daily activities when they felt a strong impact that shook the building.
Excesses in the spas of the Santa Elena peninsula were recorded in videos
Firefighters from the area rushed to the scene to deal with the emergency.
Corporal Pedro Honores, of the OIAT, indicated that the driver was not found at the site. The vehicle was transferred to the traffic retention center of the Traffic Commission in Santa Elena.
On Sunday, on the Ancón-Anconcito road, an accident whose causes are still unclear ended the life of Roberto Carló Mirabá.
Corporal Luis Miguel Salinas, an expert from the Traffic Accident Investigation Office-OIAT, stated that at the scene they only found the motorcycle on which the now deceased was riding. For now it is unknown if there are other vehicles involved in the accident.
A companion of Carló was injured and was taken to a hospital. The OIAT agents planned to take his version, since he is a witness to the event and would provide more information. (I)
