Paramount Pictures has become the latest Hollywood studio to postpone the premiere of its films in Russia after the start of a military special operation in Ukraine. It is reported by Variety.
“Because we are witnessing the ongoing tragedy in Ukraine, it has been decided to suspend the release of our future premieres in Russia, including the premieres of The Lost City and Sonic 2 Movies. We support all those affected by the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, Russia and our international markets and will continue to monitor developments in the situation,” the studio said in a statement.
Disney, Sony, and Warner Bros. did the same earlier this week. In the meantime, screenings of already released Hollywood hits “Ancharted: Not on the Maps” and “Death on the Nile” continue in Russian cinemas.
In addition, the streaming giant Netflix said it was refusing to broadcast 20 Russian federal channels, and Russian users of the service faced problems paying for subscriptions with cards from Sberbank and Alfa Bank, which fell under Western sanctions, as well as cards from Tinkoff Bank.
