Belarus does not plan to participate in a special military operation in Ukraine. As BelTA informs, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated this at a meeting with members of the Security Council and the leadership of the Council of Ministers.

According to him, “the Belarusian army has not taken and does not take any part in the hostilities.”

“We can prove it to anyone,” Lukashenka specified.

According to him, air defense systems have been put on alert in Belarus in order to prevent Russian troops from being hit in the back.

“The Minister of Defense reported to me that he was ready to cover the western border with five more battalions,” he said.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine. He stated that Moscow’s plans do not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories, the goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. A few days later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky offered to sit down at the negotiating table. The first round of discussion of the situation took place the day before.
