The North-Western Transport Prosecutor’s Office organized an investigation into the collision of a car with a freight train in the Leningrad Region. This was reported by the press service of the department.

The Leningrad-Finland Transport Prosecutor’s Office is conducting a security check in connection with a collision of a car with a train at about 23:20 on February 27, 2022 at the railway crossing of the Vaskelovo-Orekhovo station of the Vsevolozhsky district of the Leningrad region.

According to preliminary information, the driver of the passenger car violated the rules of the road by driving to the crossing at a prohibitory signal in front of an approaching train. The driver applied emergency braking, but due to insufficient distance, the accident could not be avoided.

As a result of the incident, there was a 20-minute delay on the train between St. Petersburg and Sosnovo. There were no casualties.

The transport prosecutor’s office will check all the circumstances and, if there are grounds, will take response measures.

Earlier in the Leningrad region, a freight train crashed into a bus.
