Negotiations between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine in the Gomel region of Belarus have ended. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
We add that the negotiations were held in the Gomel region on the banks of the Pripyat River, not far from the Ukrainian border. At the same time, the exact location was not called “in the interests of security.”
As Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, said, the parties identified priority topics for dialogue and outlined “certain solutions” on them.
Also, according to him, an agreement was reached on the second round of negotiations on the situation in Ukraine. Now the delegations are returning to the capitals for consultations.
“Negotiations are difficult,” he wrote on his Twitter. “But without any obligatory ultimatums.”
According to him, the Russian side is still “extremely biased” in its view of the ongoing destructive processes.
The Russian delegation was led by Presidential Aide Vladimir Medinsky.
The Ukrainian delegation included Chairman of the Servant of the People faction David Arakhamia, Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov, Advisor to the Head of the Office of President Volodymyr Zelensky Mykhailo Podolyak, First Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) Andriy Kostya, Deputy Rustem Umerov, Deputy Minister Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mykola Tochitsky.
As specified in the office of Volodymyr Zelensky, “the key issue of the negotiations is an immediate ceasefire and the withdrawal of troops from the territory of Ukraine.”
Recall, on February 24, Putin announced a special operation in the Donbass. The purpose of the Russian troops is the military infrastructure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
