At the moment, “Russia threatens the security of Europe.” This statement was made by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a speech at an extraordinary meeting of the Bundestag, he is quoted by OstWest.tv.
According to him, “Putin wants to recreate the Russian Empire and govern Europe as he sees fit.” The Chancellor added that the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine is a “turning point” in the history of Europe. At the same time, Scholz stressed that “the Russian people do not want war, and therefore this war will remain Putin’s war.”
At the same time, Scholz added that it was impossible to ensure security in Europe against Russia. “In the long run, security cannot be provided against Russia,” the chancellor said. “We need as much diplomacy as possible, but you can’t be naive,” Scholz concluded.
Recall, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.” In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries (USA, Canada, European Union, Great Britain, Japan) announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including financial and economic ones.
