Two violent deaths in less than seven hours were recorded in two locations in Esmeraldas.
The first victim was Marianela Lastra, approximately 78 years old, who was shot in the head on Friday night, February 25.
The event was recorded at 7:00 p.m. in the San Martín de Porres Alto neighborhood, northwest of the capital of Esmeralda. According to the version of witnesses, the older adult would have come out in defense of a person they were looking for in the neighborhood. Two people were also injured.

The agents of Criminalistics and the National Directorate of Crimes against Life, Violent Deaths, Disappearances, Extortion and Kidnapping (Dinased) arrived at the scene of the crime for the preliminary investigations and the search for the alleged murderers.
The injured were transferred, with the help of their relatives, to a nursing home.
The residents of this sector are concerned about this crime since, they say, it occurs for the first time on the site. They also stated that for two days suspicious persons had been observed aboard a motorcycle roaming the sector.
Meanwhile, at 02:00 this Saturday, the Dinased confirmed the death of David Bennett Caicedo, 27 years old. The incident occurred in the San Jorge Alto neighborhood, south of the capital of Esmeralda.
Records of violent deaths
In the city of Esmeraldas there have been ten violent deaths, including one femicide, since Monday of this week.
Meanwhile, so far this year there have been 52 hit-and-run or selective murders, according to the Subzone 8 National Police.
