The NFT works are consolidated in ARCO, the great event with the world of art in Spain. It is a technology that allows the authenticity and ownership of a digital file (Non Fungible Token) to be registered and these pieces are housed in the blockchain, the same space that supports cryptocurrencies.
Proof of it is the work of Solimán Pérez: an oil that contains DNA molecules and that brings together two economic worlds that until now were separate: agriculture and cryptocurrencies. The artist explains that the Agriculturewhich is the oldest economy of humanity, is mixed with a new emerging, futuristic and real economy: the cryptocurrencies.
He was the first artist to sell an NFT work in Arco in the last edition and repeats with this proposal. “If you send oil to the lab, it’s able to reconstruct the digital file,” he explains. It is a file that contains a virtual work. Solimán defends a format that has been consolidated in this edition.
“This is not pure speculation, it is part of an artistic discourse that has been going on for decades,” he says. They are four galleries that present NFT works. As shown in the images, there is the possibility of perforating the virtual sculpture of the artist Amparo Sard with a pencil. The objective? Give veracity to a digital file to make the viewer feel more.
the gallery owner Fernando Padilla, has also opted for this format because he believes it is the future. “In the future everything is going to be digital, somehow in Europe people are more traditional, more conservative,” she says.
Solimán assures that digital art takes since the 60’s but then, there was no way to materialize its sale. From ARCO they defend their presence. Maribel López, director of the fair, emphasizes the idea that a digital work guarantees its authenticity through this technology. “It’s a very good thing for that digital security,” she adds. The digital in art is here to stay.
