MANTA, Manabi
Around 11:00 this Friday, February 25, a fire was detected inside a structure where a fishing company allegedly operated, which is located on 112th Street and 103rd Avenue, near the market of the Los Esteros, in the east of Manta.
The smoke that was generated forced the neighbors to quickly evacuate their homes, due to the level of toxicity that they had detected.
Personnel from the Manta Fire Department were deployed to the scene to reduce the presence of smoke that was detected inside that structure.
In Manta, a man was left in the middle of the flames due to an explosion in his workshop
Xavier Briones, head of the Manta Fire Department, said that the causes of the fire that generated toxic smoke, which was controlled with foam, will be investigated. He also pointed out that people were working inside the company.
A neighbor, who did not identify himself, indicated that the company did not work with activities related to fishing, but presumably carried out maintenance work.
At the moment, three people were affected by inhalation of smoke generated after the fire.
Some 35 firefighters collaborated in the emergency detected in the Los Esteros de Manta parish. (I)
