Carnival day with art and environmental awareness prepares the Quito Zoo for this holiday

The Quito Zoo has prepared a complete agenda of artistic, recreational and environmental awareness activities aimed at visiting families for the four days of the carnival holiday.

A group of artists will develop acrobatics, juggling, hula-hula, games with giant bubbles, use of masks and other artistic expressions to create a dreamy, fantasy and avant-garde carnival atmosphere. Visitors will be able to enjoy this exhibit at various points throughout the zoo.

In addition, a team from the Quito Fire Department will offer talks aimed at visitors to promote personal care in this time of pandemic, as well as the importance of maintaining a respectful relationship with the environment.

Families will also be part of participatory experiences where they will learn more about wildlife and the importance of its conservation. Different creative stations will be activated where the making of masks, animals, portraits with materials from nature will be proposed.

In addition to the activities planned for the holiday, there are also the experiences that can be enjoyed in special areas of the zoo such as Volare, the butterfly farm with hundreds of these insects fluttering in an area decorated like a humid forest, and the aviary, where various species of native birds of our country.

There is also the Rana marsupial educational space, life in two worlds, an opportunity to live a playful experience that encourages the participation of the family to whom we invite you to become uilli-uilli.

In order to offer a safe tour, Quito Zoo maintains some special preventive provisions against Covid 19. Each visitor over the age of 5 must present their vaccination certificate with identity card, wear a mask at all times and respect the direction of travel and established signage to ensure social distancing.

In addition, the capacity is still limited to 40% capacity, in order to avoid crowds. The opening hours of the Zoo are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with prices of $7 for adults, $4 for boys and girls between 3 and 11 years old, and $3 for seniors; People with disabilities and children under 3 years of age do not pay admission.
