Two inmates from block two of the maximum security pavilion of El Rodeo prison, in Portoviejo, were found dead in a cell. The fact was detected on Thursday afternoon in that penitentiary center, the one with the largest number of existing inmates in Manabí.
The inmates were recognized as Pablo PB, and Luis VC, whose deaths are being investigated by the police to verify whether they were suicides or violent deaths; therefore, the remains of these two people were taken on Thursday night to the Manta forensic science center.

Pablo PB had two records, in 2019 for drug trafficking, while in 2021 he was accused of organized crime.
Meanwhile, Luis VC had a trial for alleged paternity, for which even a Pedernales judge had ordered him to make payments in favor of the mother of a child.
With the deaths of Pablo P., and Luis VC, there are five inmates who were found dead in the El Rodeo prison so far in February; two of them it was announced that the cause had been suicide, while one of them was indicated that he perished due to health problems. (I)
