They find three explosive devices in homes in the Quevedo canton

In the Grito de la Libertad sector of the Venus del Río parish there was a bullet confrontation at dawn on Tuesday 25, residents reported.

Police agents found three explosive devices, on the morning of this Tuesday, October 26, in two homes located in the Grito de la Libertad sector of the Venus del Río parish, in Quevedo, in Los Ríos.

Uniformed members of the Quevedo-Mocache District Police came to the area for the citizen alert about the detonation of firearms in the middle of a violent event, reported early this Tuesday.

Regarding the conflict, according to preliminary inquiries, the head of the Quevedo District, Holguer Cortez, said that apparently it was intended to rob a home, but a confrontation arose when several citizens had tried to prevent the robbery. For now, the Police continue with the investigations to clarify the fact. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

As part of the investigations, on Tuesday morning the agents carried out raids on homes in the sector where the violent acts occurred. Explosive devices and ammunition from firearms were found in two buildings, which were uninhabited.

“We had to wait for the arrival of specialized personnel so that they can deactivate them and handle them safely and thus avoid a disaster in the sector. Two hand grenades were found in one house, and the other device was found in the other, ”explained the head of the Quevedo District, Holguer Cortez.

Personnel from the Santo Domingo Intervention and Rescue Group (GIR) collaborated in the deactivation of the explosive material.

Regarding the clashes registered at dawn on Tuesday in the same sector, Cortez reported that two vehicles were materially affected by the apparent use of stones and firearm projectiles.

During the clashes, no people were reported injured or detained, the police said.

The vehicles were moved by cranes to the courtyards of the Judicial Police. (I)
