From this Friday the intensity and frequency of rains will increase in Ecuador, predicts Inamhi

Rains of variable intensity with storms in the coastal and Amazon region will probably spread to other locations in Ecuador in the next few hours, according to the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Ecuador (Inamhi), which issued a bulletin on rains and storms valid from this Friday the 25th until Tuesday the 1st of March, the last day of the carnival holiday.

The increase in frequency and intensity of the rains, which could be accompanied by storms, will be felt mainly during the days of the weekend.

Possibly the most intense events will be presented from this Friday, February 25 to Sunday, February 27, according to the forecast of the Inamhi technicians.

In the coastal region, the rains will be recurrent in the north and interior of the region, with moderate and strong episodes. Intense events are also expected in the central-southern provinces of the region. The localities that could be most affected by rainfall are: Esmeraldas, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Los Ríos, areas of Manabí and Guayas.

In the Sierra region, rainfall of light and moderate intensity is expected, especially in the north and far south, and in the foothills of the mountain range.

In the Amazon region, heavy rains will be scattered throughout the region and will be accompanied by storms. In the foothills of the mountain range the rains will be recurrent. (I)
