Russia “attacked” Ukraine, and this decision is “reckless”, endangering the lives of numerous civilians. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, his speech is published on the website of the alliance.

“I strongly condemn Russia’s reckless attack on Ukraine. Once again, despite our repeated warnings and tireless diplomatic efforts, Russia has chosen the path of aggression against a sovereign and independent country.

“I call on Russia to immediately stop hostilities and respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” Stoltenberg added.

According to him, NATO allies will meet to discuss the consequences of Russia’s aggressive actions. What is happening in the alliance was called “a serious violation of international law and a serious threat to Euro-Atlantic security.”

It should be noted that explosions are heard on the outskirts of many Ukrainian cities. President Volodymyr Zelensky has decided to introduce martial law.

Recall, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. He stressed that the plans of the Russian Federation “does not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories”, but “the Russian Federation considers it important that all the peoples of Ukraine can use the right of self-determination.” Reacting to the Kremlin’s decision, US President Joe Biden, in a special statement, called Russia’s attack on Ukraine unprovoked and unjustified and promised to hold it to account.
