US President Joseph Biden phoned his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky after the Russian Federation announced the start of a military operation in the Donbass.
The head of the White House said that he “condemns the unprovoked and unjustified attack by the Russian military on Ukraine.”
Biden informed Zelensky that a meeting of the G7 leaders would soon take place, at which tough restrictions would be introduced for Russia’s aggression.
“The United States, together with allies and partners, will impose tough sanctions against the Russian Federation,” the White House said in a statement.
It is noted that Zelensky in this conversation asked Washington to call on the heads of leading states to clearly oppose Russia’s actions and support the people of Ukraine. According to Biden, the United States is already taking steps to ensure that the entire world community condemns what Russia has done.
