Majes Siguas II: Councilor Pinto points out that a university statement implies subordination to Cobra

The Regional Council of Arequipa will debate this Friday, February 25, the approval of addendum 13 of the Majes Siguas II project, for which there are two opinions, one in favor and one against. In recent days, various characters and institutions have shown their position regarding the subscription.

For example, 4 universities in the Arequipa region issued a statement in which they called on the authorities to act responsibly, since, in the current conditions, according to what they say, the addendum is the only way that makes the execution of the project viable.

In response to the universities, the president of the Agriculture Commission of the Regional Council of Arequipa, Elmer Pintoreleased another statement in which he describes ‘inopportune’ the message of the superior houses of studies. For the advisor, he seeks to justify the signing of the addendum, despite having observations from the Comptroller and an increase of 104 million dollars in the project.

Likewise, it indicates that the document obeys the personal position of each of the rectors; that is, Hugo Rojas (National University of San Agustín), Alberto Briceño (Catholic University of Santa María), Germán Chávez (Catholic University of San Pablo) and Patricio Quintanilla (La Salle University); due to the fact that the technical perception of deans and directors of professional schools relevant to the subject would not have been included.

Also, he regretted that, enclose a message of subordination and submission to the Cobra dealer.
