Nothing threatens the civilian population of Ukraine. This was stated in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, commenting on reports of shelling and strikes on Ukrainian cities, RIA Novosti reports.

The Russian Armed Forces are disabling the military infrastructure of Ukraine, the ministry confirmed. They also stressed that the Armed Forces do not launch rocket air or artillery strikes on the cities of Ukraine. Military infrastructure, air defense facilities, military airfields and military aviation are disabled by high-precision weapons, the Defense Ministry explained.

Recall, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. He stressed that the plans of the Russian Federation “does not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories”, but “the Russian Federation considers it important that all the peoples of Ukraine can use the right of self-determination.” Reacting to the Kremlin’s decision, US President Joe Biden, in a special statement, called Russia’s attack on Ukraine unprovoked and unjustified and promised to hold it to account.
