President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on conscription of reservists.

In his video message, published on Tuesday evening, he said that during the “special period for the country” the “preparedness of the Ukrainian army for all possible changes in the operational situation” should be increased. The Ukrainian leader stressed that “exclusively citizens assigned to the operational reserve” are subject to conscription. He also added that a training meeting of reservists of the territorial defense system would be held in the near future.

Zelensky stressed that at present “there is no need for general mobilization”, however, it is necessary to “promptly complete the Ukrainian army and other military formations.”

Recall, on Monday, February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the recognition of the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics. The Russian authorities also signed treaties of friendship and cooperation with the DNR and LNR. Later they were ratified by the State Duma and the Federation Council, as well as the parliaments of the DPR and LPR.

In turn, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky allowed a break in diplomatic relations with Russia, noting that such a request had already been received from the Foreign Ministry.
