Ukraine considers it impossible to normalize relations with the Russian Federation on the conditions put forward by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said.
According to him, the fulfillment of these conditions – in particular, the recognition of Crimea as part of the Russian Federation and the refusal to join NATO – “contradicts the choice of the Ukrainian society.”
“For an independent, sovereign Ukraine and for me, as the prime minister of our country, this is impossible,” Shmygal wrote on his Telegram channel. On the air of the ICTV channel, he repeated this statement and expressed gratitude to the Ukrainians, who “remain calm”, as this “allows us to keep the economic and macroeconomic situation stable.”
Recall that on Tuesday, February 22, President Putin said that the normalization of relations with Ukraine is possible if the Ukrainian authorities recognize the results of the referendum in Crimea, refuse to join NATO and go to a certain degree of demilitarization of the country.
