It is possible to stop the escalation and stop the “invasion”, if it continues “on a permanent basis”, through a competent sanctions policy. So says the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba, according to Sky News.

According to him, the sanctions announced by US President Joe Biden seem serious when viewed as a first step. “From conversations with President Biden and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, I understood that this is the first step, and they are ready to increase pressure on Russia if it escalates,” Kuleba added in an interview with Fox News.

He noted that now the sanctions have affected the “core” of the financial interests of President Vladimir Putin and his entourage, and ordinary citizens of Russia will not suffer from these restrictions.

Such an impact is necessary, Kuleba emphasized, adding that it is necessary to introduce sanctions against Russia in waves.

Recall that on February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the independence of the DPR and LPR, as well as agreements with their heads on friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding. On February 22, Putin received permission from the Federation Council to use the armed forces abroad. At the same time, the President of Ukraine announced the conscription of reservists for military service in connection with a “special period for the country.” The United States, Great Britain and the European Union imposed sanctions against Russia. Japan also joined them.
