The Nord Stream 2 project can be completely stopped. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the words of the Minister of Economics of Germany and Vice-Chancellor Robert Habek.
Khabek clarified that those already adopted under this project are not sanctions in the strict sense of the word. Currently, Germany is discussing Nord Stream 2 with partners from the US and Europe, and in the future, the final stop of the project is still possible.
Recall that earlier the certification of Nord Stream 2 was stopped by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. And before that, the Ministry of Economy of Germany submitted a report to the German regulator, which spoke of the need for a Russian gas pipeline to meet Germany’s energy needs.
Meanwhile, a high-ranking US administration official told the media that Nord Stream 2 would not be launched, and that the $11 billion spent on it was wasted. “We have consulted with Germany. As a result, the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline will not operate. This is $11 billion wasted on the Russian-controlled gas pipeline,” he said.
The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin, head of the DPR Denis Pushilin and head of the LPR Leonid Pasechnik signed documents on Russia’s recognition of the independence of the LPR and the DPR. The Federation Council gave its consent to the President for the use of the RF Armed Forces outside Russian territory.
