There is no question of Kazakhstan recognizing the independence of the DPR and LPR. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi.
According to Tleuberdi, the official position of the Kazakh authorities on this issue is currently being developed and will be adopted in accordance with international law and the UN Charter. However, the head of the Foreign Ministry noted, the question of recognizing the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics is not worth it.
Earlier, Mukhtar Tleuberdi assessed the possibility of deploying CSTO peacekeepers in Donbass. According to him, the CSTO allows the use of peacekeeping forces only on the territory of the countries participating in the organization, therefore, sending them to the LPR and DPR is “impossible.”
Recall that on February 21, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the independence of the republics of Donbass. He also instructed the Russian military to ensure the maintenance of peace on the territory of the DNR and LNR.
Many Western leaders condemned Russia’s decision to recognize the independence of the Donbass republics, calling for these actions to be reversed and threatening harsh sanctions.
And today, the State Duma has ratified the treaties of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance between Russia and the “people’s republics” of Donbass – the DPR and the LPR. The document, in particular, makes it possible to create Russian military bases in these territories.
